Delivering presentations through the Charlotte Chamber or your local Chamber is an incredible way to attract new business.  You do know that everyone wants to do business with the expert, right?  If you conduct a well organized seminar guess what? You are now that expert in the eyes of every attendee.

The benefit to the Chamber in hosting your event is providing valuable information to it’s member base, “member value” as its referred to at the Charlotte Chamber.  Your rewards are many fold:
  1. Gathering a captive audience of people (prospective clients) interested in your business
  2. Positioning yourself as the local go-to provider of your product or service
  3. A free venue, as I guarantee the Chamber will provide a meeting space
  4. Free marketing through the Chamber’s email and print publications.  The more successful your talk, the better the Chamber looks to its members
  5. An opportunity to collect attendees’ contact information to grow your mailing lists
  6. The opportunity to turn excited attendees into evangelists (eg. salespeople) for your business, yes this does happen
  7. Need I go on?
If handing out business cards to everyone you meet at Chamber networking events is not energizing your pocket book, give this idea a test spin and if you follow the suggestions above the results will amaze you!

Does the Chamber Work for You?

Read more about : (matching categories Chamber Marketing Secrets Revealed )
Posted by User ImageMichael Orzech,August 31st, 2008

I cannot tell you how often people ask me this question or how frequently I hear others discussing it.  My take on an answer is the driving force behind my decision to join the Customer Flypaper team to blog Chamber Marketing Secrets Revealed.   Sorry for going on, my answer to the question is a resounding yes; the Chamber does work!

The Chamber works if you first have an understanding of the organization’s purpose. Typically Chambers provide members an environment where businesses, organizations, and communities can grow and develop.  It’s not just exclusively about your business but the forward movement of the collective. From here, we must define our goals; what do we want to get from our membership?  Walking in the door, shaking someone’s hand and expecting a signed contract with a deposit check is an unlikely probability.  Meeting one new person with each visit whose business and philosophy compliment yours to the degree that you can organically share ideas and referrals is easily had.  Finally, we must take the time to understand the full scope of Chamber activities and identify the ones that make sense for us to engage based on our business goals.  The key here is involvement.  The most successful Chamber members are not sideline lookers on, they are actively involved in a manageable set of activities.

In the months to come I look forward to sharing my experience from the perspective of an Ambassador with the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce to reveal to you approaches to Chamber success that you just might not have thought of; so dust off that membership of yours, put on your nametag and get ready for the referral flood.
